Common Statement of CENA about the 50 years of EU

By the way of the 50th anniversary of the European Union, a new campaign is in full development under the slogan “Together” in order to cultivate mainly in youth the so-called “European conscience” with the principals and ideals of great capital and monopolies. There is no doubt that during all these 50 years, EU was always “together” and never apart of the multinational enterprises and their interests.

CENA declares that European Union should not been identified as Europe and as the only perspective as they want to present it to the people and youth.

After 50 years, people and youth are more experienced now about what the European Union does really represent, because they feel everyday the consequences of the neoliberal policies of EU. The European Union is an imperialist organization defending the interests of European capitalists against the rival imperialist centers and always against the rights and the needs of the peoples and of the youth, not only in the European countries, but also by exploiting peoples all over the world.

We know that according to European Union’s resolutions and practice :

EU’s “peace” means imperialist wars that EU participates actively joining the imperialist plans of US as a stable ally, with thousands of killings and injured people and children. Bombings, military occupations, threats, army bases, nuclear weapons are promoted in order to service their imperialist plans. 

EU’s “education” means schools and universities that function in the service of enterprises, with books of historical lies and anti scientific distortions, with the suppression of public and free education system, imposing fees and class obstacles for the majority of youth, permitting only one elite to obtain the high level education and knowledge.

EU’s “employment” means mass unemployment for youth and especially young women with small breaks of precarious work and stable uncertainty, for the vast majority of youngsters. In addition with Treaties like Lisbon Strategy and directives like Bolkenstein workers’ rights are being considered as cost that should be reduced according to the wills of the monopolies.

EU’s “freedom and democracy” means only freedom of movement of capital, of services, of commerce, of precarious workers. The “free world” of EU is one with the limitation of democratic rights in the name of “war on terror” and fight against the “early radicalization”. “Democracy” for EU is to ignore the will of people as it is being constantly expressed in referendums against the EU Constitution or other EU treaties and to bring them back again in order to force people and youth to adopt the principals and aims of the big capital as national and European goals for all.    

EU’s “protection of environment” means pollution by the monopolies and GMO’s products.

EU’s “arts and recreation” means expensive sub-culture for the majority of young people and that only few will have access in a high level culture creativeness. They only leave drugs and abuse as a fake way out of the dead ends of youth’s life.

On the contrary, for youth movement and peoples:

Peace means the right of peoples to decide for their future, for their countries, their sovereignty, without imperialist interventions.

Education means public and really public and free high level education for all, without exclusions, according to human and social ideas.

Employment means no exploitation of man by man, full working rights and upgraded social insurance, with the right for trade union activity, without unemployment and uncertainty.

Freedom and democracy means the right of resistance and struggle, the right of political expression and activity. The right of people to choose the system that they want to live and also the implementation of the decision of the peoples.

Environmental protection, the quality of life and nutrition can only be guaranteed by the struggle of the peoples against the monopolies and the disastrous consequences provoked by their domination.

Culture and recreation means high level culture for all, youth to be encouraged to express itself and create collectively.

CENA denounces the new round of propaganda about the 50 years of the European Union. We declare that we will not build our future “together” with monopolies and multinations.

The only recall of EU that youth can have is that of all the reactionary attacks that EU has launched against youth and peoples’ lives up to now. We will continue our struggle in order to make the youth movement of Europe to reinforce the antimperialist struggle against EU and monopolies for a life with peace and full rights for eveyone, without exploitation and imperialist aggression, for social transformation.
